Our Story

Did you know that Cornerstone held its first service in East Wiltshire Jr. High School on April 19th, 1987?

Pastor Elwood Bannister was Cornerstone’s first pastor and he preached to 20 people that first Sunday.

The next six years would prove to be difficult as the church struggled to grow. In the early 90’s, Pastor Jack Willet came to Cornerstone with clear instructions from our Convention’s Home Mission Board – “grow the church or put it down”. On May 16th, 1993, Pastor Jack and a congregation of 25 or so people turned the sod on Cornerstone’s first ministry facility.

November 5, 1993 was “Dedication Weekend” for the new facility and over the next 5 years the church grew to 33 faithful people. In June of 1999, under the pastoral leadership of Stewart Dockendorff, Cornerstone voted to bring Pastor Dana Ingersoll on staff. After many years of hard work and faithful service, God began to do something – something big!! After rebuilding our Sunday morning worship experience, DVBS’s, Small Groups, Strawberry Socials, Pig Roasts and countless hours poured into the ministry, Cornerstone had grown from 33 people to an average Sunday morning attendance of 127 people by the end of 2003.
